New Orleans is a Post-Corrections City

by Nadra Enzi, Contributing Writerimage

I once ventured that New Orleans is a post-police city, meaning her department has been demoralized and demobilized into a shadow of itself.

Current cries for federal oversight of the Parish Prison (local-ese for county jail) threaten to make New Orleans post-corrections as well.

Behind the scenes sits a master manipulator who wants the jail and all funds to which it is entitled out of the Sheriff’s control. He intends to micro-manage the Orleans Parish Sheriffs Office into submission in the same manner as the federally-handcuffed police department.

Dangling from stealthy strings are puppets from the vocal anti-badge bloc of our urban majority, aided and abetted by liberal lawyers whose litigious article of-secular-faith is demonizing police and correctional officers.

Sadly, in a post-police, soon-to-be post-corrections New Orleans, our urban majority will be the losers as enboldened offenders terrorize and take even more low income lives – with upper crust casualties added for extra credit. That’s the bitter harvest of a post-corrections city whose criminals are anything but post-violent.
