A Slightly Fatal Mistake

by Robert Arvay, Contributing Writer

Barack Obama attended Harvard University. He was editor of the Harvard Law Review.

As editor of such a prestigious publication, Obama had to fulfill at least two major requirements: he had to be very familiar with the principles of law and he had to have an almost flawless command of the English language.

While Obama has been accused of being the most lawless (as opposed to flawless) president we have ever had, that matter has yet to be adjudicated in final form. Legal scholars aplenty will defend him against every accusation leveled at him, in the very least, raising the issue of reasonable doubt.

The English language is a different matter. Unlike legal questions, grammatical errors are usually cut and dried, with very few, if any, dissenting opinions among qualified linguists. While Obama is reputed to be a master of oratory, at least when he has a teleprompter from which to read his speeches, he has made enough significant linguistic errors to call into serious doubt whether he was ever qualified to edit the National Enquirer, much less the Harvard Law Review.

You will surely remember the speech that Obama gave at West Point in which he mispronounced the word, corpsman, three times, mangling it into the meaningless word, corpse-man. Had President GW Bush made a similar error … well, in fact he did, on several occasions, including inventing words such as “misunderestimate.” Bush, however, made no claim to being qualified to edit the Harvard Law Review.

One such error on Obama’s part might be excused, although it reveals his utter detachment from all matters military, including the vaunted United States Marine Corps, not corpse, of which he is commander in chief. One can almost imagine his defenders making the excuse that commanding a military force is not the same as pronouncing it correctly, and saying that there is no relationship between the two.

Perhaps not, but should not an Ivy League journal editor be capable of a vocabulary that exceeds the high school level?

Very well, one linguistic error, even when repeated three times in one speech, might not be reflective of the man’s literacy. He never claimed to be a military genius, but he is regarded as a genius in terms of government, and one would expect him to know how to pronounce the plural form of his senior cabinet office. Yet, in one warm and fuzzy press event, Obama referred to Hillary Clinton as one of the best “Secretary of States” we have ever had. Really? To which states was he referring? If he was referring, not to the states, but to the secretary, then he should have used the term, “Secretaries of State.”

Will he one day refer to Eric Holder as one of the best attorney generals? The correct term will be attorneys general.

Some mistakes are minor, and bothering to mention them out of context will be considered petty and desperate.

Every detective worth his salt, however, well understands that oftentimes the seemingly smallest clue, the seemingly least significant fact, is vital to solving a case. Many a time a single so-called slip of the tongue has been the undoing of an otherwise masterful criminal.

Were you or I to make the linguistic mistakes that Obama has made, it would be of no concern to anyone, nor reflective of our competence at our jobs, unless we were professors of English at Harvard.

Obama’s errors, however, are cracks in the feet of clay that lay at the base of his credibility. To be sure, his policies are so grievously in error that we might not notice the slight clues. There is no doubt that his disrespect for the law, his contempt for the values of our nation, and his narcissistic attitude, are all loud trumpets of his anti-American goals, and are much more serious matters than his word gaffes.

We do well, however, to note the smaller things. Obama’s mistakes in verbiage may seem slight mistakes, but they are fatal ones, for they reveal that he is a fraud, and has been one since the beginning.

The Next Genocide

by Robert Arvay

I went to see the movie, “Persecuted,” with high hopes that it would be a quality movie with an important message. I was disappointed. I feel that the quality was low on several counts, and the message (as presented) was not plausible. In my opinion, Christian-themed movies should be held to a much higher standard. However, the title of the movie is appropriate. Let me explain that.

America is a land of churches. One cannot travel very far through populated areas without seeing the familiar steeple topped by a cross, or if not that, at least a sign out in front that clearly indicates the church’s name. Because of its ubiquitous presence, to suggest that in America, Christianity is persecuted is considered laughable.

In 1932, Germany was a land of synagogues. By the end of 1942, there were none.

The United States is already considered by many to be a post-Christian nation, and many academics say that it never was Christian to begin with. It is no longer taught that the United States was founded on, as the Mayflower Compact specifically says, “Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony. . .” [emphasis mine.] Instead, it is taught that America was founded on slavery and genocide, the enslavement of Africans brought here in chains, and the massacre of indigenous tribes (incorrectly called Indians). Whenever Christianity is mentioned in government run schools, it is often in this context.

Undoubtedly the history of our nation has painful and tragic aspects to it. So does Christianity, with its inquisitions and crusades. Christianity, as some have correctly said, is not a brotherhood of the virtuous, but a hospital for sinners. It is not a destination, but a journey, not the triumph of good over evil, but the painful struggle for it.

Those who condemn Christianity as having had an evil influence neglect to consider what the Americas would be like today had they been settled by Moslems or Hindus, by Chinese or Arabs, none of whom have the traditions of religious freedom or inalienable human rights that informed our Founders. The American journey toward good would have not been better, but worse. Indeed, the indigenous natives who were already here when Columbus arrived were in a state of perpetual war with each other. Despite the abundance of the land, the American natives suffered recurrent famines. The most technologically civilized of the tribes in and around Central America practiced ritual human sacrifice.

This is mentioned not to malign the natives, but to be realistic about human shortcomings. However great their respect for nature, however admirable their qualities of courage, the indigenous people were, after all, as human as the European settlers who conquered them, that is to say, as fallible.

This has been either forgotten or denied in public schools. Any mention of Christianity or Judaism occurs in the context of negativity, a context that is never applied to those of other faiths (or none), and never applied to minority races. The rules are clear on this, and any deviation from them, even by committed liberals, is, and here is that word again, persecuted.

In 1932, the warning signs in Europe were clear, so clear in fact that almost every Jew who could do so, left Germany during the next few years. Albert Einstein was among them.

The warning signs in America may be less overt, but they are no less ominous, both for Christians and for Jews. Over time, a negative mental image of Christianity is being implanted into the minds of children, both in schools and in entertainment. While this campaign of propaganda is still in its early stages, it is growing, and if left to travel its course, will one day morph into open and seething hatred, not just by citizens, but by official government policy. The opening salvos have already been fired, and loudly so.

The Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor cases, are examples. These lawsuits involve only a slight dispute with the government’s effort to force people to violate their religious convictions. The dispute is basically about paperwork. The government has said that if you do not wish to participate in providing what many consider to be abortion-inducing drugs, you need merely to sign this piece of paper, and then you will be granted a special license by the government to practice your faith. That’s all. Just sign right here. No need to read the fine print, the government will do the rest.

Because the Little Sisters refuse to sign a paper that replaces their God-given rights with revocable government-given rights, the National Organization [supposedly] for Women (NOW), has publicly referred to the nuns as, “Dirty.” Given NOW’s rancorous disparagement of the nuns, one might think that the Sisters of the Poor are forcing chastity belts onto Patricia Ireland, or alternatively trying to force her to become pregnant and bear children.

It is no longer enough to not support the government’s version of morality. It is no longer enough to not support the atheist Church of America in its practice of killing the unborn. No, one must now genuflect before the altar and beg for an exemption, an exemption to which the Constitution and God already entitle us not as a revocable privilege, but as an unalienable right. Would you be free? Then kiss the ring, and fasten this chain.

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby’s refusal to violate its religious convictions (perhaps this pun will later become reality), but that will not stop the anti-Christian march from the political left. They smell blood in the water.

Some may think that the triviality of refusing to sign a piece of paper is too trivial to signal an impending persecution of Christians, but the opposite is true. It is a signal that the left considers even a trivial departure from its doctrines to be an intolerable affront, a heresy, a crime that must be punished. You will either respect the sacrament of abortion, or else, you will be vilified—and vilification of Jews was but a way station enroute to Dachau.

If the Sisters signed that piece of paper and surrendered their God-given rights to the whim of the Left, that would by no means be the end of it. More violations would inevitably follow, for the ravenous hunger of the beast is never sated, and certainly such a small snack will be but an appetizer for it.

There are already rules and regulations afoot to further limit the rights of religious organizations, and of individuals, to live by their faith. Pharmacists who refuse to fill prescriptions for abortifacient drugs are accused of forcing their beliefs on others. The only remedy then, is for the left to force its beliefs on Christians. One means of doing so is to refuse licensing to such pharmacists. They will either prescribe abortion, or prescribe nothing.

Once we Christians and Jews give an inch, then the next inch seems less important, and more difficult to resist. Once the first wedge is in place, it is but a matter of time before the entire tree is cut down.

This might sound overly alarmist, but the destination to which we are heading has already been reached elsewhere, not just in recent history, but in current events. Islamists in Iran, Iraq, Sudan and elsewhere are already burning churches, and in some cases, slaughtering Christians and Jews. Islam, a religion that persecutes (that word!) women and homosexuals would, you might think, be anathema to the American Left, and considered far worse than Judaism or Christianity. On the contrary, the Left cheers for the Palestinians, celebrating every missile fired at Israel, then condemning every effort by Israel to protect itself. While Palestinians use their own children as human shields, the American Left holds public demonstrations against I
srael. The deliberate murders of Jews are ignored, but the civilian casualties among the Palestinians, casualties caused by Hamas placing military targets in schools, those are grounds for accusing Israel of persecuting (yes) the Palestinians.

There. Are you still hoping for a semblance of reason from the Left? Do you still hope that they will respect Israel’s right to exist? Do you still believe that they will refrain from forcing their beliefs on Christians?

They will not.

You will do as the Left tells you, or else you will resist. If you resist, they will have no mercy. You must become either hot or cold. Choose, and if that means choosing persecution, then so be it.

How about we CUT the $$$ and restart aid ONLY with oversight? That will help prevent the ugly corruption and outright theft by leaders of countries that have been allowed to take our money, use it to indulge the elites of those country (who are protecting their wealth and power) and then send those they neglect to the US so that we can take care of them with additional taxpayer money?

Talk about adding insult to injury!

ENOUGH with these false liberal memes of “kids being trafficked into sex slavery.” Have they taken a look at the registry of missing teenagers in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

As has been noted more and more each day – have these liberal whiners looked at the victims of violence in OUR OWN CITIES?

Once again, liberals force Conservatives to be the grown-ups – the “bad cop” parents, in order to do what’s best.

Here’s a list of the South America countries1 that received the most aid – millions of US $$$:

Argentina 83.7
Belize 28.3
Chile 161.4
Colombia 1024.5
Costa Rica 38.4
Ecuador 162.6
El Salvador 280.8
Guatemala 391.8
Honduras 624.0
Mexico 958.2
Nicaragua 695.0
Panama 109.9
Paraguay 93.7
Peru 599.2
Uruguay 15.1
Venezuela 44.5
Bolivia 728.7
Guyana 158.5
Suriname 94.6

Bear in mind that the topic of foreign aid,as it relates to the illegal immigrants crashing our southern borders, is only one small factor in the broad scope of multiple crises these immigrants bring with them – ranging from our national security and our citizens’ health to making U.S. taxpayers liable for the expense of hiring interpreters for the majority of non-English speaking immigrants to providing personal hygiene products and much more.

So, what can we do to help push back on the federal government that refuses to bend to the Will of the People who want our borders secured, illegal aliens deported back to their home countries and our immigration laws enforced?

In addition to attending rallies and protests, we can share inarguable facts wherever and whenever we can – in blogs such as this; via e-mails; Tweets; Facebook posts; comments on other social network sites; and we can write “Letters to the Editors” of local papers (print and online); send, fax or e-mail copies of the letters to local, county, state, and national officials.

We can make telephone calls to the same chain of people listed above and express our concerns. The truth is that America has always thrived “from the bottom, up”. You might be amazed to see the influence of your voice when you let your City Council or local School Board Members know your feelings. They are connected to other officials “up the food chain” and your thoughts may just scurry right up the ladder to officials even to the national level.

Australia Dumps Carbon Tax

Much to the outrage of the global Green and warming alarmist cabal, Australian voters have been heard and Julia Gillard's carbon tax consigned to the dumpster of history.

One thing you can be absolutely sure of, globally, there will be a

Australia has dumped it’s carbon tax.

This as the saying goes really is a double whammy, Australian PM

Obama ‘Forces’ Cities
To House Illegals

The Obama administration, in July 2013, quietly introduced a
new regulation

This rule would allow HUD to influence zoning laws from the
biggest cities down to the tiniest towns.

The proposed rule, which is set to take effect in October, would
put teeth on the Fair Housing Act of 1968 by providing a set of
standards, guidelines and goals, then use data to “measure”
and “assess” how well a local community is meeting its Fair
Housing obligations.

Some say the new rule will lead to “racial quotas” and will be
exploited by HUD to aggressively absorb the nation’s swelling
population of illegal immigrants into communities that are
trying to keep them out.

More Here:

Every bit of this illegal immigrant invasion was pre-meditated,

right down to the laws that would guarantee that no community
would be spared if the Left chose theirs to be dumped on.
This is classic central planning. I don’t think many citizens

Synthetic Organs

In regards to the controversy regarding the use of embryonic stem
cells, scientists wanted to find a way to get easily-accessible stem
cells without crossing ethical boundaries. During some recent
research, American and Japanese scientists teamed together to
find an alternative way to get stem cells to research on, without
having the burden of society and the guilt of the destruction of
embryos to worry about. They found a safe process to remove skin
cells, convert them to stem cells, therefore making them ready to
use and develop into any other cell. The research is new and the
technology won’t be around until some time; however, this proves
that there are alternative ways that can save the embryos and still
promote the research for stem cells and synthetic organs.

How Does One Person Take Power Over a Nation?

by Robert Arvay, Contributing Writer

As a young boy, I watched in wonderment on a military base, a single officer giving the command to stand at attention, and dozens of soldiers stood at attention. He gave the order to “left face,” and those dozens of soldiers faced left. He told them, “forward march,” and forward they marched.

I wondered why the soldiers did as they were told. I wondered how it was that this one officer could command them. Why was he the one in charge, and not one of the other men? Of course, my thoughts were not so precisely worded, but the questions have never left me. Indeed, over the years, the questions have only grown larger.

Years later, as I studied history, I wondered how it was possible that millions of Germans were commanded by one man named Hitler. He ordered countless numbers of his followers to their deaths, and they obeyed. Likewise, a man named Stalin sent millions of Russians to their deaths, and they obeyed. On smaller scales, the question is raised again and again and again, as dictators rise in various places around the world, snapping orders that are instantly obeyed. Saddam Hussein of Iraq, Kim Jong Un of North Korea, and Vladimir Putin of Russia are only a few examples.

How do they do it?

At first, I thought that the case of Adolph Hitler would be instructive, so I looked more deeply into it. Here was a person who, early in life, was as close to being the personification of a nobody as one can get. He tried and failed to get into an art school. In World War I, he was an undistinguished army corporal. In later years, he would snap orders to generals, even ordering their deaths if they disobeyed.  An assassination attempt failed because the would-be assassins made their plan too complicated, using a briefcase bomb instead of a simple pistol.

It turns out that Hitler did not really propel himself to power. The infrastructure of future tyranny was already in place for him, as it were, awaiting him. Devious men surrounded Hitler, accomplices in treachery. Chance seems to have played a major role. In short, a complex weave of events occurred. At any moment, those events might have taken a different turn, and had they, history would not even have recorded Hitler’s name.

My theory is that human society, and human psychology, is predisposed toward accepting tyranny. We see this as far back as the days of the Old Testament, when the Jews decided to do away with their divinely ordained system of governance, and chose instead to be more like the ungodly nations that surrounded them. They clamored for a king, and they got one. Their first king, Saul, the bad king, was replaced by David the good king, and then by Solomon, another good king, but after Solomon’s death, rule by evil took over, and Israel was brought to ruin. Had the Jews foreseen the inevitable result of their choice, they would likely have put up with their divinely appointed judges, as corrupt as those judges were.

It is because we are predisposed toward tyranny that tyrants rule.

The great exception in history has been the United States. Having suffered under a tyranny that was by no means as horrible as rule by men such as Ivan the Terrible, the Founders cobbled together an independent government that not only threw off the tyrant, but also, they hoped, would prevent any future tyrants from seizing power.

The Founders understood power. They understood how it is gained, and they understood how it is abused. They understood that the would-be tyrant must first be surrounded by lackeys, by men in the shadows, by opportunists hoping for favors. They understood the complex weave of events that must occur, and they devised a method whereby those events could never conspire to bring to absolute power any one individual.

For many decades, that system prevailed. Then it eroded. Gradually, year by year, the strengths which had under-girded our imperfect society began to weaken. Slowly, the safeguards against tyranny unraveled.

Today, we have in power that single individual that the Founders abhorred in principle. We have a man who came from seemingly nowhere, a man with no previous accomplishments, a man who refuses to divulge his college records – a man who has never so much as run a lemonade stand. He has never signed a paycheck, and indeed, never earned one from private enterprise.

Yet this man orders generals about, firing them at his whim. He presides over failure after failure, and he survives scandal after scandal. He flouts the law, violating the separation of powers, arbitrarily dismissing laws he does not like, and using illegal means to punish his political opponents. Yet, despite all this, or maybe because of all this, Barack Obama snaps orders, and millions of people comply.

Obama’s Speech on Foreign Crises (Parody)

Hey dudes:

What a mess, huh? I mean some days I just don’t want to watch the news. Every time I do, I find out stuff that just messes with my mind. Like the IRS and stuff.

But you know, playing the part of president isn’t easy. I was told it would be, but it’s not as easy as I expected. Some of those golf courses are brutal.

Anyway, as many of you might know, since you are reporters, the world has a lot of crises going on. Some of them are serious. Like, for example, what’s with the Washington Redskins? Why don’t they just change their name, like I did mine—whoops, pretend I didn’t say that.

Then there’s this stuff going on in the Middle East, whatever, you know? I turn on the TV and there’s all this violence and killing and murder. Those people have no sense of respect for life. Oh wait, that’s the violence in Chicago and an abortion clinic. Forget I said that.

Why are all these Americans upset at having thousands of kids being brought into the US? It’s not like they’re being sent into my daughter’s school or nothing. Hey, they’re escaping violence in their homeland, gangs and murders and—darn it, somebody change that channel from Chicago news, already, I keep mixing things up.

We have serious crises to face, very serious. Why just the other day, Sarah Palin was accusing me of stuff. We can’t have that! She accused me of being pompous and arrogant. I’m too good to have anybody say that kind of stuff about me.

And then there’s global warming. You people have just got to turn off your electricity, stop driving cars, and stuff like that. I’ve been working very hard to stop global warming, and I’m succeeding. Pretty soon, none of you will be able to afford cars, heating and air conditioning, except me and my friends.

We have to get our priorities straight… Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend the gays.

Finally, let me say this. A lot of my critics, you know, those evil people who hate me—they have accused me of not being tough enough on Iran, Russia, and Elbonia. I assure you, that from now on, I am going to get very tough with them. In fact, I am recruiting an army, an entire army, mind you, of speech writers, who are even now in the process of writing some of the toughest speeches I have ever seen. They are using words—tough words, like, “unacceptable” and “I’ll get to the bottom of this” and stuff like that there.

When people hear those speeches, they are going to say, wow, that guy is really tough. And while they will be saying that about Vladimir Putin and not me, they will still be tough speeches. Not tough enough to offend the gays, but still, very tough.

Why Do Democrats Even Bother to Lie?

by Robert Arvay, Contributing Writer

There is a joke about two politicians who were discussing an issue. One of them says, “All right, you caught me. I admit it. I’m lying, but hear me out.”

Another joke about Barack Obama is that, as a young boy, his mother caught him stealing cookies, with his hand stuck in the cookie jar. Obama told his mother, “I don’t know who has been stealing the cookies, but I assure you that I will fully investigate myself, and if I have done anything dishonest, I will . . . . (blah blah blah).”

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen is among the many contortionists who have frustrated all attempts to get answers to the IRS scandal. His replies to questions asked by congress are so ludicrous that he has openly been accused of lying.

Here is an example of Koskinen’s confrontation with congress, followed by my suggestion for Democrats.

[Begin excerpt from Fox News]

“This is unbelievable,” Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., angrily told IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “That’s your problem. Nobody believes you.”

Koskinen responded, “I have a long career. That’s the first time anyone’s said I don’t believe you.”

“I don’t believe you,” Ryan shot back again.

Koskinen set a defiant tone during his testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee, telling lawmakers he felt no need for the agency to apologize amid accusations of a cover-up in the targeting scandal of conservative groups.

Here is my suggestion to Democrats. Stop telling lies. At the very least, stop telling open, bald-faced lies that nobody believes. The old adage does not apply here. It is not always true that if you tell a lie big enough, and repeat it often enough, people will believe it. In this case, you just make people laugh, and if you keep it up, you make them angry, and if you still keep it up, you face the risk that they will take action.

Instead, here is what Koskinen should say.

“Ha ha. You’re darn right we targeted conservative groups to deny them their First Amendment rights. Why shouldn’t we? There’s not a thing you can do about it. The White House ordered the targeting, the attorney general directed it, and the IRS executed it. So what are you going to do, big man? Hold hearings? Ha ha. Issue subpoenas? Ha ha. Find us in contempt of congress? At least, you got that part right. We have nothing butcontempt for congress. So go ahead. Do whatever you wish, but nothing is going to happen, not to me, not to Lois Lerner, and certainly nothing to Obama. Nothing. You bozos have no power. What’s that? You’re going to the American people? And who are they? They are the same bozos who twice elected a guy to the oval office who has never so much as had a newspaper route. They are the same people who know every celebrity’s waist size, but have no clue as to what are the three branches of government. They are either too busy at work, or too dependent on collecting a government check, to read a newspaper or watch a newscast. And even if they do, ninety percent of journalists self-identify as liberal or progressive. They will report only what we tell them to report. The American people don’t know. They don’t care. And even among those who do watch the news, half of them will chant, FOX LIES, FOX LIES, until they drown you out. You Republicans are pathetic. Even if you take control of the senate, half of you are RINO lackeys who will compromise away until there is nothing left to give away.

“So go ahead. Ask your questions. I’ll just keep on lying. So hear me out…
